The 4th Sōke Uechi Sadanao Sensei has started the project of raising funds to build a statue of the founder of Uechi-Ryu Uechi Kanbun in Yaedake Sakura no Mori, Cherry Blossom Park, in Motobu Town. This is the birthplace of Uechi Kanbun sensei. The estimated construction cost is: 9,000,000 yen (statue and pedestal) and the executive committee led by Uechi Sadanao Sensei is collecting donations in order to support it. The size of the statue will approximatelly be 1.8 meters (almost 3 meters including the pedestal). The unveiling ceremony is planned on Sunday, 29th of October 2017.
All the dojo members of any Okinawan organization are welcome to contact their headquarters directly for further details on how to support the project.
